Vendor Risk Management Intern - 2027 Summer Internship
About The Position
Globe Life is seeking a Vendor Risk Management Intern to support its Vendor Risk Management program within the Risk and Compliance organization. The intern will carry out established vendor risk assessment processes, maintain risk documentation, and develop foundational knowledge of regulatory requirements related to third-party relationships. The position provides hands-on experience in risk identification, classification, and documentation while collaborating with internal stakeholders to support the vendor risk program. This is an on-site role in McKinney, Texas, as part of a 10-week summer internship running from June 7 through August 13, 2027. The program includes departmental projects and professional development experiences such as a DiSC workshop, a luncheon with the co-CEOs, networking events, a volunteer event, a Texas Rangers game-day experience, access to the on-site gym, and professional headshots.
Requirements
- At least two years of coursework completed toward a bachelor's degree in Business, Risk Management, or another quantitative-based field.
- Working knowledge of fundamental risk principles and leading practices.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work effectively under close supervision.
- Ability to generate ideas and support departmental continuous-improvement initiatives.
Nice To Haves
- Knowledge of or experience with third-party risk management governance frameworks and processes, particularly in financial services.
- Industry certifications related to risk management.
Responsibilities
- Perform initial due-diligence and ongoing vendor risk assessments using established criteria, tools, and procedures.
- Work with Business Owners to ensure vendors are properly classified and inherent and residual risk questionnaires are accurately completed.
- Maintain assessment documentation, including findings, risk statements, ratings, justifications, and recommendations, in the vendor management tool and risk register.
- Maintain third-party data integrity and inventory in the appropriate risk management application.
- Prepare dashboards and reports summarizing periodic vendor review results for senior team members.
- Support monitoring of Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) as directed.
- Support development of corrective action plans for identified third-party risks and monitor their execution as directed.
- Develop working knowledge of applicable regulations governing third-party vendor relationships.
- Participate in team training and stay current on foundational third-party vendor risk management practices.
