About The Position

The purpose of this position is to coordinate assigned services for the Department, including providing administrative support for assigned functions; and assisting with budget-related functions. This position is responsible for workers’ compensation and property and liability claims to the county’s insurance carrier, reconciling billing and invoices, entering and processing requisitions, archiving records, and compiling reports.

Requirements

  • Requires an associate’s degree in Risk Management, Human Resources, or related field; and three years of related experience in workplace safety, claims adjusting and reporting, or related field.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Certified Workers’ Compensation Professional (CWCP) certification.
  • Knowledge of applicable local, state and federal employment and benefits regulations, and governmental compliance requirements.
  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills, including the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to use professionalism, tact and courtesy in dealing with employees and the general public in all methods of contact; demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written; and demonstrated ability to lead project teams.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple interruptions and adjustments to priorities throughout the day; excellent organization, planning and execution skills; and strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite applications.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgement and make decisions in a manner consistent with essential job functions; ability to effectively manage multiple projects.
  • Ability to coordinate or conduct special projects or assignments as directed or required.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the point of contact on workers’ compensation claims and submit required documentation and information to county’s insurance carrier
  • Serve as the point of contact for property and liability claims and submit required documentation and information to county’s insurance carrier
  • Assist with employee training on various safety-related topics
  • Trains and instructs new employees, supervisors and department heads on Georgia Workers’ Compensation laws and Employee Bill of Rights, in accordance with Georgia State Board of Workers’ Compensation rules and regulations, as needed
  • Handle incoming communications for the department, maintain assigned databases and records, and provide administrative support for assigned functions
  • Assist with budget-related functions, including reconciling bills and invoices, processing requisitions, etc.
  • Provide administrative support for the director, as needed
  • Complete reports and statistical information and submit to the director
  • Attend training and industry events to keep abreast of current trends, legislation, etc.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
