About The Position

The Risk Management Analyst will work in the Compliance Assurance department’s Control Testing team, within Compliance Risk Management, a second-line-of-defense function. The team conducts independent control testing and validation to evaluate compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and risk management standards. The analyst will assess and monitor compliance controls, identify errors and potential risks, recommend improvements, and report test results. The role is fully in office five days a week at the Zions Technology Center in Midvale, Utah.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Statistics, Math, Economics, or a related field, or a combination of education and experience that meets the qualifications.
• 0–2 years of experience in audit, risk management, compliance, financial services, or other directly related work is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, critical-thinking, problem-resolution, and analytical skills.
• Excellent verbal and written presentation and communication skills.
• Ability to build relationships, work on cross-departmental teams, and engage with senior management.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of business process analysis and workflow.
• Experience working with banking applications and data in a reporting capacity.

Responsibilities

• Work with stakeholders to ensure controls align with the Bank’s Enterprise Control Management Program (ECMP) and related standards.
• Review and evaluate control applicability to regulatory authoritative sources, business processes, and procedures.
• Perform data analysis and testing to assess the effectiveness of controls in mitigating compliance risks.
• Analyze and interpret data to identify process improvement and risk mitigation opportunities, including developing, implementing, and enhancing key and non-key controls.
• Perform periodic control self-testing to assess whether Compliance Risk Management controls are appropriately designed and operating effectively.
• Independently test compliance controls to assess their design and operating effectiveness.
• Perform control testing validation to ensure compliance controls are identified, challenged, and properly tested.
• Communicate feedback about errors and control deficiencies to control owners, process owners, and management.
• Assess root causes of significant control failures and conduct associated post-event monitoring and reviews as needed.
• Open compliance risk findings, establish remediation plans, and monitor management’s progress in implementing them.
• Report test results on an ongoing basis.
