The Risk Control Consultant conducts boiler and pressure vessel inspections in accordance with jurisdictional rules. The role includes examining equipment, identifying hazardous conditions, applying relevant codes and standards, recommending corrective actions, and submitting required reports. The consultant works with Boiler and Machinery underwriting and claims teams to help inform business decisions, primarily inspecting accounts and, under supervision, handling less complex risk evaluations and claims investigations. The role also includes individual training to develop risk-control and product/service knowledge. The consultant manages jurisdictional inspection work within an assigned territory, plans and prioritizes work, uses technology resources to manage assignments, and responds to customer requests about equipment-breakdown risks. The position has a field presence, with approximately 20%–50% of time onsite with customers; travel may involve long-distance and overnight or multi-night trips. The consultant documents and communicates findings, evaluates exposures and controls, develops loss estimates, and investigates less complex Equipment Breakdown claims when requested.
