About The Position

North American Family Institute, Inc. (NAFI), a non-profit human services organization, is seeking a Risk & Claims Specialist to join our team. You will support the agency’s risk management and insurance programs by coordinating claims, tracking data, and supporting loss control initiatives. This role collaborates closely with internal departments to ensure timely insurance carrier notifications, system troubleshooting, and support risk mitigation efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in risk management, insurance, or claims coordination.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to learn specialized insurance software.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate across all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a strong client-service mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day claims across workers’ compensation, auto, general liability, and property lines.
  • Track incidents, notify carriers, and coordinate directly with adjusters and appraisers.
  • Maintain accurate internal claim records and serve as a resource for agency-wide risk management tools.
  • Complete required external reporting, including Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) and OSHA compliance documentation.
  • Prepare routine reports for leadership and insurance partners.
  • Record and distribute meeting minutes for the Corporate Risk & Safety Committee.
  • Collect critical exposure data, including vehicle schedules, property details, and employee (FTE) counts.
  • Build effective working relationships with NAFI program staff to respond to routine risk and claims-related matters in a timely manner.
