About The Position

The Revenue Cycle Specialist processes, reviews, and files insurance claims through resolution of claim payment and assists patients with billing questions and collection of patient balances. Reporting to the Office Manager, the specialist may work as part of a team or independently to complete billing processes across multiple accounts. Responsibilities and account assignments may vary as the client base changes.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of experience in insurance accounts receivable and post-claim follow-up.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Knowledge of the insurance industry.
• Knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation for typing correspondence.
• Skill in using computer programs and applications.

Nice To Haves

• Physician claim billing experience.

Responsibilities

• Process insurance billing and collections, including Medicaid and Medicare claims, according to established policies and procedures.
• Collect and enter patients’ insurance information into the ACS Compumed System.
• Review, verify, and submit insurance claims.
• Process correspondence from third-party payors and respond to patient requests.
• Follow up with insurance companies and help ensure claims are paid in a timely manner.
• Resubmit insurance claims that have received no response.
• Answer telephones and provide or obtain information to resolve billing and collection issues.
• Maintain supporting billing information for future reference or audit purposes.
• Assist patients with billing questions and the collection of patient balances.
