About The Position

The Returns and Reconditioning Specialist is responsible for evaluating, testing, cleaning, reconditioning, and preparing pre-owned, open-box, demo, and returned audio/video equipment for resale or manufacturer return. This role ensures products are accurately inspected, properly documented, functionally verified, and prepared for sale through online and internal inventory channels. This position requires strong attention to detail, hands-on troubleshooting ability, familiarity with audio/video equipment, and accurate inventory handling. Product photography and listing support may be part of the role but are considered secondary responsibilities. The responsibilities listed are not all inclusive and are subject to change.

Requirements

  • Demonstrate working knowledge of turntable setup, calibration, and testing, including tonearms, cartridges, phono accessories, and related components.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to identify cosmetic and functional issues and accurately document product condition.
  • Ability to handle, move, clean, and package AV equipment safely and professionally.
  • Basic product photography skills preferred, including the ability to capture clear, accurate images for online resale.
  • Familiarity with high-end audio components, home theater equipment, analog playback systems, and turntables.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic photo editing.
  • Interest in high-performance audio, home theater, and specialty AV products.
  • Experience testing, reconditioning, servicing, or troubleshooting consumer electronics or audio/video equipment.
  • Experience with inventory control systems, stock movement, and warehouse or eCommerce operations.
  • Experience supporting online listings or eCommerce resale workflows.
  • Experience with open-box, trade-in, returned, or refurbished product workflows.
  • Familiarity with manufacturer return authorization or RMA processes.
  • eCommerce listing experience.
  • Knowledge of turntable setup, cartridge alignment, tonearm adjustment, and phono accessories.

Responsibilities

  • Perform quality inspections on incoming and existing inventory, identifying cosmetic damage, missing accessories, operational issues, and overall resale condition.
  • Set up and verify performance of a range of AV components, including amplifiers, receivers, processors, speakers, turntables, source components, and related accessories.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of turntable setup, calibration, and testing, including tonearms, cartridges, phono accessories, and related components.
  • Determine whether products should be prepared for resale, returned to the manufacturer, recycled, donated, or otherwise dispositioned based on condition and functionality.
  • Clean and recondition product for resale
  • Accurately document product condition, included accessories, serial numbers, defects, testing results, and other relevant details.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining accurate online product listings through clear documentation of condition, specifications, accessories, and functionality.
  • Maintain inventory control through accurate tracking, organization, stock movement, and reconciliation of products in inventory systems.
  • Support efficient processing of used, trade-in, returned, demo, and open-box merchandise.
  • Package and prepare products for resale, internal transfer, customer shipment, or manufacturer return as needed.
  • Capture basic product photos for online listings when needed, ensuring images accurately represent the product’s condition.
  • Assist with image organization, light editing, or listing presentation as a secondary responsibility.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area.
