About The Position

This temporary position supports Goodwill Gulf Coast’s mission by assisting with retail operations, donation intake, merchandise preparation, and customer service. The role provides training and support across core store activities, including donation intake, sales-floor maintenance, and merchandise processing. Temporary positions may last up to 90 days and are intended to become regular positions after 90 days, provided performance, work ethic, and cultural fit meet expectations.

Requirements

• Ability to interact cordially and productively with a variety of people.
• Ability to promote Goodwill and explain its mission to the general public.
• Ability to take initiative and work well with little supervision.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
• Ability to distinguish better name-brand merchandise.
• Ability to bend, stretch, and stoop frequently; stand, walk, and twist for prolonged periods; push wheeled equipment weighing 50–150 lbs.; lift and carry up to 25 lbs. frequently and up to 75 lbs. occasionally with assistance; and perform repetitive hand, finger, and wrist movements.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required.
• Prior work experience in the service industry preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide friendly donor and customer service, greet customers within 10 seconds, and share information.
• Unload donations from donors’ vehicles and accept donations left outside the store.
• Keep an accurate count of donations and sort donations into designated equipment.
• Load large purchases for customers.
• Sort and price merchandise, separating sellable from unsellable items and preparing items for display.
• Clean, hang, and rotate merchandise on the sales floor to maintain a neat, organized presentation.
• Monitor and maintain the cleanliness and organization of dressing rooms and the sales floor throughout the day.
• Answer customer questions, assist with free medical equipment forms, and stock as needed.
• Leave the workstation clean and empty at the end of each shift.
• Maintain the exterior and interior donation area to Goodwill’s standards.
• Keep aisles free from debris in the production area.
• Follow company policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
