About The Position

We’re seeking a dynamic, experienced Store Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our new MeatEater retail store opening in Edina, Minnesota, in Summer 2026. This individual will play a critical role in launching and growing a premium retail experience that reflects the spirit of MeatEater and our family of brands including First Lite, FHF Gear, Phelps Game Calls, and Dave Smith Decoys. The ideal candidate is a natural leader with a passion for the outdoors, a proven track record in retail management, and the ability to build and lead a high-performing team. The right candidate will also have personal experience in hunting, fishing, conservation and a general interest in the outdoors.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of relevant experience in retail store management and operations.
  • Strong knowledge of effective merchandising and floor sales techniques.
  • Passionate about customer service with a strong ability to understand customer needs.
  • Proficiency in managing store operations, inventory, and point-of-sale systems.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Knowledge and personal experience in hunting.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of and personal experience in hunting, fishing, and outdoor activities, especially in Minnesota.

  • Preferably in the Outdoor, Sporting Goods or Lifestyle Brand industries.

  • Facilitate ongoing brand and product training with cross-functional leaders across the company.
  • Lead performance management activities, recognizing achievements, managing documentation, and addressing concerns.
  • Model MeatEater’s values and leadership behaviors, ensuring the store’s operations and team dynamics reflect our deep connection to people, pursuits, conservation and the outdoors.
  • Foster an outstanding guest experience, ensuring team members are well-versed in product knowledge and skilled in guest engagement.
  • Provide leadership on the retail floor, making strategic decisions to optimize coverage and operation.
  • Address guest feedback and emergent issues promptly and effectively, maintaining MeatEater's commitment to customer satisfaction.
  • Amplify MeatEater's distinctive brand within the local community through strategic marketing, event activations, and exceptional store operations.
  • Assist in the store launch and ‘grand opening’ experience by engaging with local community marketing partnerships and media efforts, in conjunction with MeatEater’s marketing team.
  • Uphold product presentation and visual merchandising standards, managing product inventory, restocking, and floor layouts as needed.
  • Assist in idea generation and execution to regularly ‘program’ the store with distinctly MeatEater rotating features and seasonal merchandising featuring the company’s product portfolio.
  • Execute store opening and closing procedures diligently, adhering to safety policies to ensure a safe work environment for team members and guests.
  • Participate in key ‘go to market’ milestones with the MeatEater company and provide proactive, clear consumer feedback on brand and product offerings.
  • Consistently consider, recommend, and execute opportunities to tighten the store and the company’s ties with the Edina community through events, programming, promotions, and otherwise.
  • Manage delegated aspects of the store's controllable budget and labor hours, maintaining accountability for store profitability.
  • Collaborate with management to analyze business metrics, such as profit and loss statements, to inform operational planning and strategy.
