Retail Store Cleaning Associate
About The Position
The Retail Store Cleaning Associate is responsible for maintaining a clean and organized store environment, with a focus on floor care. The role includes operating floor-care equipment and completing cleaning tasks throughout the store, while upholding operational, merchandise, loss-prevention, health, safety, and customer-experience standards. The associate is cross-trained to support multiple areas of the store and responds to business needs, including Front End coverage. The position is at Marshalls Store 0198 in Detroit, Michigan, and has a starting pay range of $14.25 to $14.75 per hour. Actual starting pay depends on relevant skills, qualifications, and experience.
Requirements

- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Physical stamina to perform cleaning tasks and operate a floor buffer and scrubber.
- Ability to multitask and respond appropriately to changes in direction or unexpected situations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including listening and responding appropriately.
- Ability to lift heavy objects with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to work effectively with peers and supervisors.

Responsibilities
- Operate the scrubber and buffer and maintain floor-care cleanliness standards.
- Dust mop, damp mop, sweep, vacuum, dust, and spot-clean glass and windows.
- Maintain organizational, cleanliness, and recovery standards throughout the Sales Floor, Single Queue, Associate Lounge, Backroom, and Restrooms.
- Refill essential items in the Lounge, Restrooms, and Front End while following company health and safety policies.
- Work cross-trained in other store areas, including the Backroom, Front End, and Sales Floor, and support Front End coverage needs.
- Model established customer-experience practices with internal and external customers.
- Support a positive store culture through honesty, integrity, and respect.
- Uphold merchandising philosophy and signage standards.
- Initiate and participate in store recovery throughout the day as needed.
- Follow operational and loss-prevention controls and company guidelines, including shrink-reduction practices.
- Communicate accurately and effectively with management and Associates.
- Follow labor laws, policies, and procedures, including meal and break-period policies.
- Participate in safety awareness and help maintain a safe environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
