About The Position

Cloverkey is a family-owned business specializing in retail gift shops within hospital systems. We are seeking a full-time Shift Supervisor for the Gift Shop at Boston Children's Hospital in Boston, MA. This role is crucial in creating an outstanding shopping experience by delivering exceptional customer service and supporting daily operations. Responsibilities include assisting customers, achieving sales goals, maintaining a clean store, processing transactions accurately, and building positive relationships with hospital staff, volunteers, patients, and visitors. The ideal candidate will be dependable, service-oriented, and committed to professionalism and care.

Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent
Minimum of 2 years of Retail Experience required
Minimum of 1 year of cash handling experience preferred
Basic computer skills, familiarity with point-of-sale tracking technology a plus
Stand for long periods of time
Strong sales skills with the ability to upsell and cross-sell products
Strong customer service skills with the ability to build rapport with customers
Excellent phone etiquette and communication skills
Basic math skills for processing transactions
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Effective time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines

Nice To Haves

Supervisor experience preferred but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

Helps customers by providing information, answering questions, obtaining merchandise requested, completing payment transactions, and preparing merchandise for delivery.
Assist manager in realizing or exceeding determined sales plans and target metric objectives.
Ensure consistent execution of company’s marketing and visual presentation.
Set up advertising displays and arrange merchandise on counter or tables to promote sales.
Train staff on how to drive sales through consistent development of product knowledge and customer service standards.
Ensure compliance to policies and procedures and report concerns to Store Manager.
Maintain proper inventory controls, facilitate inventory transaction and bulk count as guided by senior management; receive incoming product shipments as required.
Ensure the store is secured at closing by checking if the doors are locked, alarms are set and all safes are locked.
Responsible for his or her own cash handling. Every shift starts with the incoming employee counting down the register drawer to ensure accuracy. In the event of a shift change (with one employee leaving and a new employee coming in) the outgoing employee will count the drawer in the presence of the incoming employee (or Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager).
Follow company policy for taking credit cards and other forms of payment (e.g. cash, payroll deduction, hospital charge account, etc.). Employees must properly notate any cash overages or shortages per company policy and notify the Store Manager immediately of unexplained differences of more than $10.
Keep daily records of store sales, damages, deposit log, scheduling, employee discount and new hire paperwork.
Shift Supervisors have additional responsibility to ensure the gift shop opens when Sales Associates fail to secure a replacement and when the Store Manager/Assistant Manager is unable to work scheduled hours.
Maintains clean and tidy workspace, including supervision of cleaning services.
Other responsibilities as required.
