About The Position

ScanScape is hiring a permanent, part-time Retail Scan Associate to collect in-store product data at assigned local retailers each week for 52 weeks a year, including holiday weeks. Associates visit designated stores and use a downloadable mobile phone app to scan product barcodes on displays and in aisle locations throughout the store, including end caps. They are asked to provide quantities for about 45% of the products scanned. The collected data is analyzed to help improve product and retailer sales performance.

The role averages 4–5 base hours per week across all stores, depending on store size and workload. Additional special-project work is frequently assigned, typically adding 1–2 hours per week per store, with greater demand from January through June. Custom Projects, which provide clients with more specific product details in main stocking locations, occur almost every week and can add 30 minutes to 2 hours per store in those weeks. Associates must meet store reporting deadlines and complete weekly display scanning, which can take several hours per store. The schedule includes store visits on assigned days, including holiday weeks; detailed scheduling is reviewed during the interview.

The position offers independence and some flexibility in working hours, while requiring continuous physical activity during work shifts. Associates need a reliable vehicle, a valid driver’s license, state-minimum auto insurance, reliable Wi-Fi, and access to a mobile phone for the scanning app. Pay is $15–$16 per hour, and travel is paid at the hourly rate except for the first and last 15 minutes.

Requirements

• At least 18 years old.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Reliable vehicle with at least the minimum state-required auto insurance coverage.
• Ability to remain on your feet for long periods and access products throughout a store.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, reach 6 feet, and bend, stretch, stoop, and stand.
• Ability to perform repetitive movements with hands, wrists, arms, and legs for prolonged periods.
• Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
