About The Position

ScanScape Retail Scan Associates visit assigned local retailers each week to scan product barcodes on displays and in aisle locations, including end caps. The collected data is analyzed to help improve product and retailer sales performance. Associates use a downloadable app on a mobile phone and provide quantities for about 45% of the products scanned.

This permanent part-time position covers assigned stores in the San Luis Obispo and Paso Robles areas. The route includes mass merchandise, grocery, and drug stores, with visits scheduled on specified Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays. Associates must meet weekly deadlines and work independently. Assignments run 52 weeks a year, including holiday weeks.

The base workload averages 4–9 hours per week across all assigned stores, depending on store size and workload. Additional project work is frequently assigned, typically adding 1–2 hours per week per store, with higher demand from January through June. Weekly display scanning can take several hours per store, and custom projects may add 30 minutes to 2 hours in a given week. Full scheduling details are reviewed during the interview.

Requirements

• At least 18 years old.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Reliable vehicle with at least the minimum state-required auto insurance coverage.
• Ability to remain on your feet for extended periods while accessing products throughout the store.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, reach 6 feet, and bend, stretch, stoop, and stand.
• Ability to perform repetitive movements with hands, wrists, arms, and legs for prolonged periods.
• Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
• Deadline-driven self-starter.
• Access to reliable Wi-Fi.
• Tech savvy.
