About The Position

The Retail Sales employee is responsible for providing fashion-focused customer service and growing a customer following both digitally and in-store. The role includes meeting sales goals, building customer relationships, advising customers on style and fit, developing product knowledge, and supporting the department’s readiness through order fulfillment, stocking, re-merchandising, markdowns, and light cleaning. The employee may also be asked to work in a different department from the one initially hired into. Hours and schedules vary by week according to business needs. The position requires flexibility, strong communication and people skills, a self-motivated and goal-oriented approach, comfort using networking and technology to support sales, teamwork, organization, follow-through, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Continuous movement for 6–8 hours per shift, including frequent bending, twisting, squatting, flexing, and reaching to handle merchandise and assist customers.
Frequent use of hands for grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling.
Ability to handle bulky and awkwardly shaped items, including reaching and lifting them above the head.
Regularly lift items weighing up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift items weighing up to 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

Set and achieve in-store and digital sales goals using selling tools, including text and social media.
Build lasting relationships with customers and grow a customer following both digitally and in-store.
Provide customer service on customers’ terms and give honest, confident feedback about style and fit.
Seek fashion and product knowledge to build expertise.
Help keep the department customer ready by filling orders, stocking, re-merchandising, completing price markdowns, and light cleaning.
Grow customer relationships by opening new Nordstrom Rewards program accounts.
Be flexible to occasionally perform duties in a department other than the one hired into.
