About The Position

The Retail Sales Staff member assists customers with selecting and purchasing merchandise and helps maintain a clean, neat, organized, and easy-to-shop retail environment. The role contributes to Pinehurst’s guest, member, and employee experience by providing genuine hospitality, building rapport with members, and supporting shop operations. The employee may be transferred to another job assignment or location as needed, temporarily or regularly.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED, plus at least six months of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including frequently lifting or moving up to 25 pounds and occasionally lifting or moving up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

Greet guests within 30 seconds of entering the shop and make a connection with them.
Ask open-ended questions to determine customers’ needs.
Present merchandise options appropriate to customers’ needs.
Suggest complementary items to build sales.
Assist golf staff with checking in golfers when needed.
Participate in department training, vendor seminars, and sales contests.
Use the point-of-sale system proficiently.
Perform opening and closing procedures.
Help recover the sales floor and follow merchandising standards to maintain a clean, neat, easy-to-shop environment.
Participate in period-end inventories.
Cross-train in all retail shops.
Participate in Member Appreciation events, Live after 5 events, wine walks, Demo days, and similar events.
Participate in floor-fill strategy in partnership with merchant leads.
Communicate to the manager which products need to be replenished from the warehouse.
Build rapport with members.
