Retail Sales Associate Part Time
About The Position
The Retail Sales Associate promotes BJ’s membership programs, including acquiring new members and renewing, upgrading, and cross-selling memberships. The role also provides member assistance with credit card applications, general inquiries, merchandise returns and exchanges, product lookups, and pickups, including Buy Online and Pick Up In Club orders. Associates are expected to deliver excellent, efficient service, resolve concerns courteously, follow club policies and procedures, and contribute to safe, clean, and well-organized club operations. Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.
Requirements
- Prior frontline or customer service experience or previous sales experience is preferred.
- Results-driven, with proven success in achieving goals.
- Basic math skills are preferred.
- Computer proficiency is preferred.
- Ability to occasionally lift objects up to 50 pounds; heavier or awkward objects may require assistance.
- Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function.

Responsibilities
- Promote BJ’s value proposition, membership acquisition and retention, member perks, and the member experience.
- Pitch membership programs to prospective members in accordance with company policies and practices.
- Sell membership products to prospective and existing members and work toward established business benchmarks and goals.
- Understand BJ’s membership options and co-brand credit card.
- Serve as a first point of contact for membership questions, credit card applications, general inquiries, issues, returns, exchanges, product lookups, and pickups.
- Follow tax-exempt and resale membership retention policies and procedures, including monitoring renewals and tax-exempt or resale status.
- Resolve member concerns courteously and promptly, escalating issues to the PIC or MOD when necessary.
- Assist with Buy Online and Pick Up In Club orders.
- Maintain club policies and procedures and support their application and compliance.
- Work in other departments and perform other duties as assigned.
- Maintain regular, predictable, full attendance.
- Deliver service excellence, greet and assist members, and help resolve or de-escalate concerns.
- Work with the team to maintain club standards, including stocking items, executing promotions, maintaining accurate signage, and keeping areas clean and organized.
- Understand how to access and read department production or financial performance reports and how execution affects business results.
- Help maintain a safe and positive environment for members and team members; work collaboratively and respectfully.
