About The Position

The Retail Sales Associate interacts with and assists customers, donors, and others with merchandise selection, suggestion selling, and cashiering in a courteous and professional manner. The role is part of Retail Operations, is non-exempt, and reports to the Retail Supervisor. The listed pay rate is $17.13–$19.00 per hour, depending on experience.

The position is based in a retail store environment where temperatures vary and employees may encounter loud noises, occasional crowds, and dust. Duties and responsibilities may be changed or assigned at any time, and employees are expected to assist wherever and whenever needed to support Goodwill’s success.

Requirements

• No experience required.
• Ability to learn new technology and software related to the job.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
• Ability to perform fine motor tasks, including grasping, handling, and manipulating objects with the fingers.
• Ability to stand for long periods and frequently bend, kneel, reach, stoop, squat, and push.
• Ability to climb ladders and travel across stairs, ramps, and uneven terrain.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, including with people who have limited English skills.
• Reliable attendance.
• Ability to organize, sort, categorize, count, add, and subtract; interpret data; solve problems; and communicate with the public.

Nice To Haves

• High school graduation or equivalent is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Proactively acknowledge, greet, and assist customers in any area of the store.
• Assist customers and donors in a timely, courteous manner by answering questions or directing them to a supervisor.
• Handle cash, checks, and credit card transactions; close out the cash drawer and balance point-of-sale transactions.
• Communicate through standard telephone and wireless audio systems.
• Merchandise and restock items and provide general floor maintenance as needed.
• Maintain a clean work environment.
• Support team members and assist supervisors and leads when necessary.
• Build and maintain internal and external customer satisfaction.
• Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results.
• Demonstrate safe work practices, remain aware of safety concerns, and report potential hazards or accidents.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
