About The Position

The Retail Sales Associate interacts with and assists customers, donors, and others with merchandise selection, suggestion selling, and cashiering in a courteous and professional manner. The role is in Retail Operations, is non-exempt, and reports to the Retail Supervisor. The listed pay rate is $17.13 per hour.

The position is based in a retail store environment where temperatures vary and there may be loud noises, occasional crowds, and exposure to dust. The employee is expected to maintain reliable attendance and may be assigned other duties or responsibilities as needed.

Requirements

• No experience required.
• Ability to learn new technology and software related to the job.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
• Fine motor control for grasping, handling, and manipulating objects with fingers.
• Ability to stand for long periods and frequently bend, kneel, reach, stoop, squat, push, and climb ladders.
• Ability to travel across stairs, ramps, uneven terrain, and other surfaces.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, including with people who have limited English skills.
• Ability to organize, sort, categorize, count, add, subtract, interpret data, solve problems, and communicate with the public.
• Reliable attendance.

Responsibilities

• Proactively acknowledge, greet, and help customers in any area of the store.
• Assist customers and donors in a timely and courteous manner by answering questions or directing them to a supervisor.
• Handle cash, checks, and credit card transactions; close out the cash drawer and balance point-of-sale transactions.
• Communicate through standard telephone and wireless audio systems.
• Merchandise, restock, and provide general floor maintenance where needed.
• Maintain a clean work environment.
• Support team members and assist supervisors and leads when necessary.
• Build and maintain internal and external customer satisfaction.
• Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed.
• Demonstrate safe work practices and report potential hazards or accidents.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
