About The Position

As a Retail Sales & Recovery Colleague at Macy’s, you help create a welcoming shopping experience through genuine hospitality and attention to detail. You keep the store clean, organized, and visually engaging by maintaining merchandise displays, tidying fitting rooms, and ensuring the sales floor is ready for customers. You provide friendly, high-quality service and support your team in achieving sales goals.

Colleagues prepare the sales floor for customers, stay informed about goals, new arrivals, top sellers, and promotions, and engage customers with a warm welcome and personal conversation. Throughout the day, they recover the sales floor and fitting rooms, update signs and pricing, and support merchandise moves. They share Loyalty program benefits, help customers with their purchases, and collaborate with colleagues to serve customers and communities. The role requires availability for days, evenings, weekends, and holidays, with hours dependent on business needs and colleague availability. Macy’s describes full-time colleagues as typically working 30 or more hours per week and part-time colleagues as typically working 12–24 hours per week.

Requirements

• Communicate effectively with customers, coworkers, and supervisors.
• Read and understand employment policies and safety rules and procedures in English.
• Be available to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays, with regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.
• Enjoy meeting people, learning about them, and sharing information.
• Be resourceful, adaptable to changing priorities, able to work independently, and effective in a team.
• Be comfortable using electronic devices.
• Be able to stand for at least two consecutive hours; lift at least 25 pounds; and stoop, kneel, crouch, climb ladders, and reach, including above eye level.
• Have close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
• Frequently use computers and other technology, including handheld equipment and cash registers, and process register transactions.

Responsibilities

• Maintain merchandise displays and keep the sales floor clean, organized, and customer-ready.
• Tidy and recover fitting rooms and the sales floor throughout the day.
• Review goals, new arrivals, top sellers, and promotions to stay informed and ready to sell.
• Welcome customers and provide friendly, personal service.
• Update signs and pricing and support merchandise moves as needed.
• Share Loyalty program benefits, ensure customers have what they need, and thank them for their visit.
• Support teammates through honest, caring, and collaborative work.
• Work toward sales goals and contribute to individual and store results.
