About The Position
Inova Fairfax Hospital – Heart and Vascular Retail Pharmacy is seeking a dedicated Retail Pharmacy Technician 1. This is a full-time position with rotating day and evening shifts, Monday through Friday, and every other weekend. The technician assists the Pharmacist with medication and supply processing and dispensing, maintains equipment and temperature logs, monitors inventory for expired products, and enters prescription information into the computer system. Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Registered Pharmacy Technician in Virginia or a Pharmacy intern license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 3 months of hire.
Nice To Haves
- One year of Retail Pharmacy Technician experience.
- Registered Pharmacy Technician certification in Virginia for a minimum of one year.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Pharmacist in reviewing, processing, preparing, filling, labeling, and dispensing medications and supplies.
- Clean equipment and maintain required temperature logs according to system policies and procedures.
- Check medication and administration supply inventory for expired products, remove them from inventory, and work with the appropriate resource to record them in the Expiring Medication log book.
- Enter prescription information in the computer, including patient and prescriber searches, drug selection, prescription interpretation and entry, insurance billing, and basic problem resolution.
- Prepare medications for clients by mixing medications, counting pills, and labeling bottles.
