The Retail Merchandising Manager Regional will provide leadership and oversee the performance of merchandising teams in an assigned area, with a focus on excellent service and merchandising. This role involves recruiting, hiring, training, motivating, supporting, and holding merchandising teams accountable. The manager will relay company communications, implement and improve training guidelines, and incorporate store walks and reviews as documented processes. They will plan and host conference calls and meetings to ensure business needs are understood, and ensure consistent execution and communication of programs and processes. The role is responsible for meeting goals for key metrics such as labor hours vs. budget, sales vs. goals, markdown percentages, and sell-through. The manager will contribute to new merchandising strategies, accomplish sales and inventory management goals in coordination with account managers, and use data to drive decision-making regarding order flow and team activity. Regular communication with sales account management and operations teams is expected, as is developing productive relationships with key customers’ operational and merchandising management teams, and promoting company efforts throughout the customer chain. Professional relations with vendor partners are also key. Budgeting duties include creating a yearly budget with the divisional management team, managing merchandiser hours, and making resource allocation decisions. The manager will identify and implement ways to increase effectiveness and efficiency, ensure safe working practices are prioritized, and ensure team service schedules meet customer needs, with team members being punctual. Corrective action and progressive discipline will be provided when company standards are not met, holding teams accountable. Building team cohesion, positively influencing individual behavior, and acting as a leader within the organization are essential. Administrative tasks must be completed timely and correctly, and all company SOPs must be followed. A cell phone will be used regularly for store check-in/out, photo sharing, task completion via mobile apps, texting, calling, emailing, and other job-related functions. Secondary duties include working closely with store associates and management to ensure garden centers are maintained to company standards (fresh, clean, ready for business), collaborating with Altman Plants merchandisers and supervisors, providing feedback and inventory updates, ensuring plants are merchandised and racks are removed, maintaining a sales-ready appearance, rotating product, signing with prices, culling and disposing of non-sellable plants, entering inventory adjustments, completing inventory cycle counts, assisting with resets, building displays, special events, and ensuring teams clean around displays. Teams must work safely, following all safety guidelines, with safe lifting and equipment use as priorities. Tools such as pallet jacks, pruners, ladders, brooms, dust pans, hoses, scissors, pruning shears, and box cutters may be used. Assistance may be required in areas outside the assigned area, and varying schedules, including weekends and some holidays, may be required. Adherence to all company policies and procedures is mandatory. Reliable transportation is required. Honesty and responsibility are expected when using applications for time/attendance, task completion, and mileage tracking. Responsiveness to communications is crucial. Collaboration with Human Resources to resolve personnel concerns is also part of the role.
