About The Position

The Retail Lead manages operations at one or more retail locations, including training, accountability, visual merchandising, inventory controls, cashier duties, and quality controls. The role also assists with ancillary revenue activities related to rentals and food and beverage as needed. The Retail Lead helps supervise the Retail and Rentals team, mentors and coaches hosts, supports onboarding and training, and fills in for retail and rental positions when needed. The position works in one or more park retail locations and involves indoor and outdoor conditions.

Requirements

• Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Must have reliable transportation to and from scheduled shifts.
• Ability to comply with uniform policies.
• Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to resolve questions, problems, issues, and concerns positively and professionally.
• Ability to engage positively with guests to promote sales and customer satisfaction.
• Ability to follow direction, multitask, and work both as part of a team and independently.
• Ability to stand, walk, and remain on feet for most of the workday.
• Ability to frequently stoop, twist, kneel, bend, squat, or reach above the shoulders.

• Ability to carry, push, pull, lift, and hold objects weighing 40 pounds or more.

Nice To Haves

• One or more years of previous retail, point-of-sale, and/or supervisory experience is desired.
• Spanish or other bilingual language skills.
• Previous experience with point-of-sale technology and PCI compliance.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily supervision of the Retail and Rentals team and any other assigned departments.
• Lead by example and represent Adventureland’s core values.
• Mentor and coach assigned hosts.
• Learn the essential duties of Retail and Rental positions and fill in for those roles when needed.
• Assist with onboarding and training hosts to perform their jobs safely and successfully.
• Ensure required meals and other breaks are provided in accordance with Iowa law.
• Assist with team scheduling and timekeeping.
• Welcome and greet guests entering retail locations.
• Perform opening and closing procedures for assigned units, including daily cleanup.
• Maintain inventory by stocking gift shops, checking orders, and moving inventory between shops.
• Ensure a variety of items are available and shelves are fully stocked.
• Communicate inventory needs to the Retail Manager before items sell out.
• Work with the Retail Manager on merchandising and improving product sales.
• Ensure hosts follow departmental and company policies, including merchandise theft and counterfeit training policies.
• Monitor cashier activities for accuracy and compliance with point-of-sale procedures.
• Keep merchandise and retail supplies stocked and organized.
• Maintain visual merchandising standards.
• Maintain cleanliness of store areas, including exteriors.
• Manage inventory, including stock par levels, shrink, and waste controls.
• Oversee ancillary duties related to lockers, speedy pass, and water park rentals.
• Remain alert for possible theft.
• Report maintenance or safety concerns to a supervisor or manager promptly.
• Perform other duties assigned by leadership.
