About The Position

The Retail Lead supports the daily operations of a licensed dispensary by guiding team performance, ensuring excellent customer service, and maintaining compliance and organization throughout the sales floor. The role bridges team members and store management and helps deliver a positive, educational, and compliant customer experience. The Retail Lead supervises Budtenders and retail team members during scheduled shifts, provides real-time coaching, and supports training initiatives. The position reports to the Store Manager and is classified as non-exempt.

Requirements

At least 1 year of customer service or cannabis retail experience.
Strong communication, conflict resolution, and team-building skills.
Working knowledge of cannabis products, POS systems, and customer service best practices.
Ability to stand for extended periods (3 or more hours) and lift up to 50 pounds.
Reliable transportation and a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Facility Agent Card or equivalent license if required by state regulations.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Ability to stand, walk, lift, and bend throughout scheduled shifts.
Ability to lift and move merchandise up to 50 pounds.
Ability to operate computers, POS systems, scanners, and standard retail equipment.

Responsibilities

Open and close the store in accordance with company policy.
Oversee daily dispensary floor operations and ensure staff are supported and efficient.
Verify allotments, guide patients through product selection, and provide exceptional service.
Mentor and train Budtenders and delegate tasks as needed.
Ensure product displays are clean, properly labeled, rotated, and fully stocked.
Handle customer concerns, assist with de-escalation, and support team performance.
Operate point-of-sale systems accurately and assist with daily cash reconciliation.
Maintain a clean, compliant, and professional retail environment.
Support management with team communication, scheduling, and daily feedback.
Supervise Budtenders and retail team members during scheduled shifts.
Provide real-time coaching and support training initiatives.
