About The Position

As an Independent Contractor Retail Food Safety Auditor serving the Reno, Nevada territory, you will support NSF’s mission to protect and improve human and planet health. You will conduct food safety audits and inform and educate restaurant, bar, grocery store, and foodservice personnel about applicable standards. The role involves travel, including overnight travel, and audits may take place during evenings or weekends. The company offers 10–50 audit hours per month.

Requirements

• Must have a degree.
• At least 2 years of experience in food safety, restaurant operations, or grocery operations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, analysis, and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to travel up to 80% of the time, including overnight travel as required.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Prior food safety experience or knowledge.
• Must live in the Reno, Nevada area.

Nice To Haves

• Prior food safety audit experience.
• ServSafe certification.
• Certified CP-FS (Certified Professional Food Safety), or ability to obtain it within 3 months; equivalent certification accepted.

Responsibilities

• Perform second-party audits for retail clients.
• Summarize audit findings.
• Communicate effectively with clients, the Audit Delivery Manager, and the Account Manager.
• Demonstrate a high level of quality and integrity in daily responsibilities.
• Travel for audits, including overnight travel as required.
• Inform and educate restaurant, bar, grocery store, and foodservice personnel about specific standards.
