About The Position

As an Independent Contractor Retail Food Safety Auditor serving the Boise, Idaho territory, you will support NSF’s mission to protect and improve human and planet health. You will conduct retail food safety audits and educate restaurant, bar, grocery store, and foodservice personnel about applicable standards. The role involves travel, including overnight travel, and approximately 10–50 audit hours per month are offered. About 50% of audits take place in the evenings or on weekends. Candidates must live in the Boise/South Idaho area.

Requirements

• Must have a degree; the degree type is not specified.
• At least 2 years of experience in food safety, restaurant operations, or grocery operations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, analysis, and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to travel up to 80% of the time, including overnight travel as required.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Prior food safety experience or knowledge.
• Must live in the Boise/South Idaho area.

Nice To Haves

• Prior food safety audit experience.
• ServSafe certification.
• Certified CP-FS (Certified Professional Food Safety), or ability to obtain it within 12 months; an equivalent certification is acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Perform second-party audits for retail clients.
• Summarize audit findings.
• Communicate effectively with clients, the Audit Delivery Manager, and the Account Manager.
• Demonstrate a high level of quality and integrity in daily responsibilities.
• Travel overnight as required.
• Conduct audits, about 50% of which take place in the evenings or on weekends.
