About The Position

The Facilities Associate at Ocean State Job Lot helps provide a positive customer experience by maintaining a clean, safe, and functional store environment in accordance with Company standards. The role focuses on interior and exterior upkeep, including cleaning floors and other surfaces, emptying trash, dusting shelves, cleaning windows, and maintaining supplies. Exterior maintenance may depend on the store’s lease specifications. The associate also reports hazards and other issues to store leadership, and may support merchandising, pricing, stocking, product displays, and customer service. Compensation is $15.75–$16.75, based on candidate experience and position.

Requirements

Prior facilities experience is required.
Ability to perform physical activities including using hand tools, climbing or descending a ladder, moving, reaching, and lifting frequently.
Ability to lift 35 pounds on a regular basis.

Nice To Haves

Experience working in a retail environment or customer service is preferred.
Basic math and reading skills, legible handwriting, and good verbal and written communication skills are preferred.

Responsibilities

Identify and correct maintenance and safety issues inside and outside the store to support the well-being of associates and customers.
Sweep, mop, scrub, and vacuum floors, steps, and similar surfaces.
Empty waste containers and collect and dispose of interior trash, litter, and similar debris.
Check and maintain adequate supplies in bathrooms, breakrooms, and other areas used in the normal operation of the building.
Keep building approaches clear of debris, snow, and other obstructions.
Keep work areas, storage areas, and materials safe, clean, and orderly; ensure cleaning supplies are clearly labeled and stored.
Provide exceptional customer service on the sales floor and at the point of sale.
Assist with merchandising tasks, including stocking, displays, and pricing, and operate a cash register as needed.
Perform duties with a focus on safeguarding Company property.
Communicate issues to store leadership in a timely manner.
