About The Position

The Retail Facilities Associate at Ocean State Job Lot helps provide a positive customer experience by maintaining a clean, safe, and functional store environment in accordance with company standards. Duties include interior and exterior upkeep, such as vacuuming, sweeping, emptying trash, dusting shelves, cleaning windows, and mopping floors. The associate cleans and reports hazards to the leader on duty; exterior maintenance may be required depending on the store’s lease specifications. The role may also support merchandising activities, including stocking shelves, maintaining product displays, and pricing, as well as customer service and operating a cash register as needed. The position works primarily in a climate-controlled environment and involves frequent movement and physical tasks throughout the shift. Compensation is $16.75–$17.75, based on candidate experience and position. All associates receive a 30% discount.

Requirements

Prior facilities experience is required.
Basic math and reading skills, legible handwriting, and good verbal and written communication skills are preferred.
Ability to lift 35 pounds on a regular basis.
Ability to perform physical activities including using hand tools, climbing or descending a ladder, moving, reaching, and lifting frequently.

Responsibilities

Identify and correct maintenance and safety issues inside and outside the store to help ensure the well-being of associates and customers.
Sweep, mop, scrub, and vacuum floors, steps, and similar surfaces.
Empty waste containers and collect and dispose of interior trash, litter, and similar debris.
Check and maintain adequate supplies in bathrooms, breakrooms, and other areas of the building.
Keep building approaches clear of debris, snow, and other obstructions.
Keep work and storage areas and materials safe, clean, and orderly; ensure cleaning supplies are labeled and stored appropriately.
Provide exceptional service to customers on the sales floor and at the point of sale.
Assist with merchandising, including stocking, displays, and pricing, and operate a cash register as needed.
Perform duties with a focus on safeguarding company property.
Communicate issues to store leadership in a timely manner.
