About The Position

The Facilities Associate at Ocean State Job Lot helps provide a positive customer experience by maintaining a clean, safe, and functional store environment. The role includes interior and exterior upkeep in accordance with Company standards, such as vacuuming, sweeping, emptying trash, dusting shelves, cleaning windows, and mopping floors. The associate cleans and reports hazards to the leader on duty. Exterior maintenance may be required depending on store lease specifications. The position may also support merchandising activities, including stocking shelves, maintaining product displays, pricing, and customer service. The role works primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal potential safety or health hazards. It involves extended periods of moving, remaining stationary, ascending, descending, and positioning oneself to complete tasks throughout the shift. Physical activities include using hand tools, climbing or descending a ladder, moving, reaching, and frequent lifting; associates should be able to lift 35 pounds regularly. Requirements

Prior facilities experience is required.
Basic math and reading skills, legible handwriting, and good verbal and written communication skills are preferred.
Ability to lift 35 pounds on a regular basis.
Ability to perform physical tasks including using hand tools, ascending or descending a ladder, moving, reaching, and frequent lifting.

Nice To Haves

Experience working in a retail environment or in customer service is preferred.

Responsibilities

Identify and correct maintenance and safety issues inside and outside the store to support the well-being of associates and customers.
Sweep, mop, scrub, and vacuum floors, steps, and similar surfaces.
Empty waste containers and pick up and dispose of interior trash, litter, and similar debris.
Check and maintain adequate bathroom, breakroom, and other building supplies.
Keep building approaches clear of debris, snow, and other obstructions.
Keep work and storage areas and materials safe, clean, and orderly; ensure cleaning supplies are clearly labeled and stored.
Provide exceptional service to customers on the sales floor and at the point of sale.
Assist with merchandising, including stocking, displays, and pricing, and operate a cash register as needed.
Perform duties with a focus on safeguarding Company property.
Communicate issues to store leadership in a timely manner.
