About The Position

The Retail Department Supervisor is responsible for executing receiving and merchandising standards, ensuring Associates process merchandise efficiently and effectively as a team, and delivering an excellent customer experience. The role models exceptional customer service, maintains a clean and organized store, and promotes a positive, honest, and confidential work environment. The supervisor orchestrates truck deliveries and prioritizes processing merchandise onto the sales floor. They train and mentor Associates on merchandising and processing principles, monitor productivity, coach as needed, and coordinate with management and the Coordinator on Duty to support efficient operations. The role also maintains backroom organization, recovery, signage, and safety standards; supports shrink reduction, credit and loyalty programs, and recycling and hazardous-waste compliance; and ensures adherence to labor laws, policies, and procedures. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

At least 1 year of retail experience and 6 months of leadership experience.

Responsibilities

Execute receiving and merchandising standards while helping Associates process merchandise efficiently and work as a team.
Engage and interact with customers, maintain a clean and organized store, and role-model exceptional customer service.
Promote a positive customer experience and a culture of honesty, integrity, and confidentiality.
Orchestrate truck deliveries and prioritize processing merchandise onto the sales floor.
Train and mentor Associates on established merchandising and processing principles.
Ensure merchandise is properly tagged, hung, secured, and coded.
Communicate with the Coordinator on Duty to ensure an efficient flow of goods to the sales floor.
Ensure Associates complete tasks and activities according to the store plan, prioritizing as needed.
Monitor team productivity and coach Associates as necessary.
Organize and rotate back stock for easy replenishment.
Maintain merchandising philosophy and signage standards.
Maintain organizational, cleanliness, and recovery standards in the backroom.
Ensure compliance with recycling and, where applicable, hazardous-waste programs.
Communicate priorities accurately and effectively with management and Associates, and provide progress updates.
Provide and accept recognition and constructive feedback.
Partner with Management on Associate training needs to increase effectiveness.
Ensure adherence to labor laws, policies, and procedures.
Promote credit and loyalty programs.
Support and participate in store shrink-reduction goals and programs.
Promote safety awareness and maintain a safe environment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
