About The Position

The Bike Technician is a technically focused role centered on providing a differentiated customer experience to cyclists. The Bike Tech builds and repairs bicycles according to established procedures and uses personal experience, industry research, and trends to recommend products that meet customers’ needs. The role also supports sales and customer service in the Bike Department, maintains merchandise presentation standards, and assists with exercise equipment assembly as needed.

The position requires supporting the broader store team, following safety and loss-prevention procedures, and maintaining the confidentiality of company information. Other tasks may be assigned by management.

Requirements

• Ability to stand, bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, and occasionally lift items weighing 15 to 35 lbs. (up to five times per hour).
• Ability to stand or walk for extended periods of up to four hours.

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience building, repairing, and selling bicycles is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create a world-class customer experience through passionate customer service and customer engagement, particularly in the Bike Department.
• Provide product recommendations aligned with customers’ needs, using personal experience and industry research and trends.
• Uphold company merchandise presentation standards.
• Interact with customers to demonstrate passion, knowledge, dedication, and commitment to their sport or activity.
• Promote company programs, including warranty sales, the Scorecard loyalty program, private-label credit cards, and seasonal promotions.
• Achieve sales goals through selling bicycles and related merchandise.
• Build and repair bicycles according to established procedures.
• Assist with assembly of exercise equipment as needed.
• Maintain Bike Department merchandise presentation standards and signage as directed.
• Follow established safety, loss-prevention, and standard operating procedures, and maintain confidentiality of company information.
• Support the team across the store with an all-hands-on-deck approach.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by management.
