About The Position

Heritage Cooperative is seeking a friendly, outgoing, customer-service-driven Retail Associate to represent the company’s core values and support customers, sales, order fulfillment, inventory, and store operations. The associate provides courteous product guidance, processes payments, assists with loading purchases, and supports store management’s sales and profitability initiatives. The role also involves preparing customer and delivery orders, receiving merchandise, using forklifts and other equipment, maintaining warehouse organization, and stocking and displaying products. Associates must follow safety procedures and help maintain clean, orderly work areas. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent, or currently pursuing one.
Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record if operating company vehicles or equipment.
Ability to obtain and maintain forklift certification; training will be provided.
Basic math skills and ability to accurately handle cash transactions.
Strong customer service and communication skills.
Ability to follow safety procedures and operational guidelines.
Basic computer skills for data entry, point-of-sale systems, and reporting.
Able to stand, bend, climb, stoop, kneel, or walk for extended periods, up to 8 hours, and move quickly in a busy environment.
Frequent reaching, bending, and lifting of merchandise or supplies weighing up to 25–50 pounds, with occasional ladder climbing.
Adhere to required training and use PPE when exposed to agricultural chemicals.
Navigate potentially unpredictable, uneven terrain outside the facility, including yard and storage areas.

Nice To Haves

Previous retail, warehouse, agricultural, or customer service experience.
Experience operating forklifts or material-handling equipment.
Previous industry experience.
Knowledge of inventory systems and merchandising practices.
Familiarity with agricultural, feed, or farm supply products.
Experience in both customer-facing and warehouse environments.

Assist customers with product selection, answer questions, and provide knowledgeable recommendations.
Escort customers to products and suggest complementary items based on their needs.
Respond to inquiries about products, pricing, billing, and availability.
Accurately process cash, check, and credit-card transactions using cash registers.
Safely load and unload customer purchases into vehicles.
Promptly report customer feedback, concerns, or dissatisfaction to management.
Perform general office duties, including answering phones, filing, copying, and handling paperwork.
Support store management in maximizing sales and profitability through customer service and business initiatives.
Prepare customer and delivery orders by processing requests, pulling materials, packing items, and staging orders in designated areas.
Off-load delivery trucks and safely receive incoming merchandise.
Safely operate forklifts and other equipment to store products in appropriate bin locations.
Organize warehouse areas to support efficient inventory flow and accessibility.
Maintain clean, orderly warehouse, drive-through, and work areas.
Assist with stocking, replenishment, and product displays.
Participate in physical inventory counts and maintain accurate stock records.
Follow safety regulations to protect oneself, coworkers, and customers.
Perform other duties as assigned.
