About The Position

The Retail Associate helps maximize store sales by assisting customers and responding to their requests whenever possible. The role performs day-to-day store operations, including cashiering, stocking and arranging merchandise, processing donated goods, and maintaining a clean and orderly sales floor. The associate may also fill store-staffing requirements as needed and complete related assignments in support of the agency’s mission.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Good eyesight and color definition.
Good interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to quickly assess goods and determine appropriate routing.
Functional reading and writing skills.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

Perform daily store operations, including operating the register, verifying checks, stocking shelves and displays, hanging garments, selling merchandise, and rotating goods.
Set up advertising signs and displays and arrange merchandise to attract customers and promote sales.
Obtain merchandise requested by customers or receive merchandise selected by customers.
Answer customer questions about merchandise location, price, and use.
Provide excellent customer service to customers and donors.
Perform assigned clerk and cashier duties, including sales transactions, payments, refunds, and end-of-day register processing.
Wrap or bag merchandise for customers.
Maintain proper register balances and prevent unauthorized removal of merchandise.
Keep the work area and sales floor clean and orderly.
Stock, straighten, and clean textiles and hard-line merchandise on the sales floor.
Stock storage areas and displays with new or transferred merchandise.
Remove empty hangers and outdated merchandise according to the rotation schedule.
Remove clothes from dressing rooms and re-hang them when necessary.
Answer the telephone and make announcements over the store paging system as needed.
Transport items to and from the sales floor.
Support the agency safety program and contribute to customer and employee safety.
Complete related assignments as needed to support retail and organizational goals.
