About The Position

Residential Restaurants are the social hub of our communities, and require a charismatic and energetic leader, with a service first mentality, a keen eye for detail, and a firm understanding of F&B financials. This role involves actively participating as a working member of the Food & Beverage team, contributing to both front-of-house and back-of-house operations. The manager will oversee all aspects of restaurant operations, ensuring efficient service and smooth coordination between kitchen and dining areas, while maintaining a high level of service and promptly addressing resident needs and concerns to create a welcoming dining environment. The position also includes hiring, training, and supervising staff, holding them accountable to performance standards, and guiding them in their roles, stepping in to assist during busy periods as needed. Additionally, the role involves developing staff schedules, completing bi-weekly payroll reconciliation, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, conducting monthly inventories, overseeing budgeting, sales, and expenses to maximize profitability, collaborating on menu creation, and participating in board and committee meetings.

Requirements

  • Have some experience managing a kitchen in a restaurant, including but not limited to 1-year of experience.
  • Proficient understanding of cost of goods sold, menu pricing, and financial schedule extension.
  • Proven experience placing food and beverage orders both in person and online, through major vendors.
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to communicate, receive, and exchange ideas and information by means of spoken and written language.
  • Capable of training and developing staff to meet high service and operational standards.
  • Knowledge of menu development, including seasonal and event-driven offerings.
  • Strong focus on delivering exceptional dining experiences and resolving customer issues promptly and professionally.
  • Skills in streamlining processes and ensuring smooth front-of-house and back-of-house operations.
  • Intermediate command of computer hardware/software, specifically Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Proficient in the English language
  • Able to work under pressure, maintain composure and utilize good judgement during emergency/difficult and stressful situations.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Ability to work in an upright standing or sitting position for long periods of time, may fluctuate.
  • Ability to quickly and easily navigate the property/building as required to meet the job functions; complete all required forms.
  • Ability to communicate, receive and exchange ideas and information.
  • Ability to reach with hands and arms, handle, grasp and lift objects and packages.
  • Ability to work extended hours and weekends based on project requirements.
  • Ability to respond to emergencies and callouts in a timely manner.
  • May be occasionally required to cover for front desk staff at other communities within a reasonable commuting distance when needed.

  • May be required to travel for training sessions off-site on an ad-hoc basis.

Responsibilities

  • Actively participate as a working member of the Food & Beverage team, contributing to both front-of-house and back-of-house operations.
  • Manage all aspects of restaurant operations, ensuring efficient service and smooth coordination between kitchen and dining areas.
  • Maintain a high level of service, promptly addressing resident needs and concerns to create a welcoming dining environment for community members.
  • Hire, train, and supervise staff to ensure adherence to performance standards, focusing on customer service, food safety, and operational efficiency.
  • Hold team members accountable to established performance standards outlined in the Royal Steps of Service.
  • Guide and direct team members in their roles, stepping in to assist during busy periods as needed to ensure seamless service.
  • Develop staff schedules that align with current business trends and budgetary requirements.
  • Complete bi-weekly payroll reconciliation to ensure accurate and timely payment for staff.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal health standards to maintain food safety and sanitation.
  • Adhere to OSHA, ADA, FDA, and other safety regulations to promote a safe working environment.
  • Conduct monthly inventories and reconcile results to maintain accurate stock levels.
  • Oversee budgeting, sales, and expenses to maximize profitability, including monitoring food costs, labor, and inventory management.
  • Collaborate on the creation of quarterly menus, event-driven menus, and occasional catered events for clubs and groups.
  • Participate in board and committee meetings as needed, providing insights and updates on restaurant operations.
  • Directly manage restaurant team – size of team may vary depending on size of site.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Castle’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training, developing and mentoring employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
