Restaurant Host/Hostess
About The Position
The Restaurant Host/Hostess greets guests, helps them feel welcome, and seats them in a timely manner. The role includes informing guests about specials, new menu items, and promotions; managing the waiting list during busy periods; and thanking guests as they leave. Hosts/Hostesses also assist other team members as needed and follow company safety and sanitation policies. The employer describes a non-corporate, family-type environment, consistent flexible hours, overtime availability, opportunities for advancement to shift supervisor and management roles, and no late-night hours.
Requirements
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- Demonstrated ability to interact with the public and coworkers in a friendly, enthusiastic, and outgoing manner.
- Ability to bend, twist, and stand to perform normal job functions.
- Ability to speak, read, and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and policy documents, and converse comfortably with customers.
Responsibilities
- Greet guests in a friendly and inviting manner.
- Engage in friendly conversation while seating guests in a timely fashion.
- Advise guests of current specials, new menu items, and promotions.
- Manage the restaurant waiting list during high-volume times and accurately set guest expectations.
- Sincerely thank guests as they leave and invite them to return.
- Assist other team members as needed or when business needs dictate.
- Adhere to all company safety and sanitation policies and procedures.
