The Restaurant Host/Hostess will be responsible for controlling the flow of the restaurant through awareness of business needs/volumes, station assignments, breaks, etc. This role requires maintaining established company and departmental uniform, appearance, and hygiene standards, as well as a clean and organized workstation. Side work duties must be completed efficiently and accurately. The position involves answering phones according to established standards, booking reservations using the company system, and assisting with station assignments, rotation planning, and opening/closing procedures. A positive attitude and a smile are essential when greeting customers. The host/hostess will manage reservations and waitlists, create seating plans, and follow proper seating rotation when escorting guests. Maintaining menu cleanliness and possessing knowledge of menus and daily specials are key. Proactively addressing customer special requests and communicating needs to management and servers is required. Awareness of all dining room activities and knowledge of safety/guest liability procedures are important. Use of radios with headsets and earpieces may be utilized for communication, and proper telephone etiquette is mandatory. A thorough understanding of departmental and property offerings, including venue menus, outlet concepts, promotions, and specials, is expected. Adherence to federal, state, and local laws and regulations is also required, along with performing other assigned duties.
