About The Position

The Restaurant Floor Supervisor is responsible for directing and organizing the restaurant staff to ensure first-class service, food and beverage offerings, and marketing to maximize profits and guest satisfaction. This role involves supervising the floor during meal periods to ensure all standards and steps of service are met, communicating effectively with staff, observing performance, and organizing pre-shift meetings. The supervisor must remain calm and alert during busy periods and emergencies, act as a role model, and ensure compliance with operating procedures and health regulations. They will interact positively with customers, resolve problems, maintain inter-departmental rapport, and monitor food quality and service standards. The role also includes utilizing computer systems for customer charges, ensuring cash handling procedures are met, maintaining cleanliness, soliciting guest feedback, and assisting the Restaurant Manager with special events and employee concerns. All guests must be treated with the goal of complete satisfaction, striving to exceed expectations. The employee must report to work in a neat and clean uniform with good personal hygiene and be cross-trained to assist in other positions within the Restaurant and Bar as needed. Additional duties may be assigned by the Restaurant Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Supervising the floor during meal periods to ensure that all standards and steps of service are met through all guests’ interactions
  • Ensuring that checklists, requisitions and proper opening and closing functions are being completed each shift.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to provide clear direction to the staff.
  • Observe performance and encourage improvement where necessary.
  • Organize and conduct pre-shift and departmental meetings communicating pertinent information to the staff, such as house count and menu changes.
  • Remain calm and alert, especially during emergency situations and/or heavy restaurant activity, acting as a role model for the staff.
  • Ensure basic standard operating procedures for all outlets are in place and are in compliance with Federal, State, Local and Libbey’s own practices (e.g. TIPS Certification, ServSafe).
  • Ensure that all steps of services as outlined in training manuals are being followed on a daily basis.
  • Interact positively with customers promoting hotel facilities and services.
  • Resolve problems to the satisfaction of involved parties.
  • Answer phones in a clear voice, coordinate and document reservations.
  • Maintain a positive rapport with all departments and attend relevant meetings.
  • Move throughout the facility and kitchen areas to visually monitor and take action to ensure food quality and service standards are met.
  • Verify temperatures, judge appearance and taste of products and check preparation methods to determine quality.
  • Give guidance toward improvement and make necessary adjustments for consistency.
  • Utilize computer to accurately charge customers.
  • Ensure that all standards and cash handling procedures are met.
  • Maintain cleanliness of all outlets on a daily basis.
  • Solicit feedback from guests concerning the service and food and beverage offerings in all outlets.
  • Work closely with Restaurant Manager.
  • Ensure all daily reports are submitted in a timely fashion.
  • Assist Restaurant Manager in planning and setting up special events for the restaurant and bar (e.g. Mother’s Day, Easter, Father’s Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, New Years, Holiday Events, etc.)
  • Report to Restaurant Manager any staffing and employee disciplinary concerns and/or issues.
  • Ensure all guests are treated in a manner to ensure their complete satisfaction.
  • Always strive to exceed guests’ expectations.
  • Report to work in a neat and clean uniform.
  • Cross train to assist at any position within the Restaurant and Bar in case of emergency.
  • Complete other duties as may be assigned by Restaurant Manager.
