About The Position

The AC Substation Field Service Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating field service operations to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality customer support. This role oversees field technicians, manages service schedules, supports customer satisfaction, and drives operational performance across AC Substation Service activities. GSI NAM Services organization supports its customers with their AC Substation system commissioning, maintenance and operation. Our service commissions, inspects, maintains and repairs GE installed base in North America and sometimes in other regions. In your role, you will have to supervise all the field specialists and be the guarantor of the good execution of site activities.

Requirements

  • Fluent in English and French (desirable)
  • 3 years of experience as team manager / Prior management experience in Services and operations
  • Work exposure to Transmission and Distribution substation engineering for utilities and renewable energy power plants
  • Field experience in electrical, mechanical, controls and protection disciplines

Responsibilities

  • Manage the field specialists, their personal and skill developments
  • Grow and develop the team
  • Maintain the field group at the expected level of productivity
  • Anticipate the business development and develop staffing plans to support the growth
  • Maintain the field activity planning up to date: Fit all the business requests
  • Assign mission to the field specialist based on their skills and development needs
  • Find good compromise between business requirements and field specialist life balance
  • Filter requests and guarantee stability to the field group
  • Be the field process owner
  • Guarantee that the field mission are executed as per the processes
  • Improve the processes based on return of experience
  • Supervise 24/7 response
  • Maintain rotation planning
  • Make sure someone answer the calls
  • Dispatch calls if required
  • Proactively promote EHS
  • Maintain Field people trained as per legal requirements
  • Make sure mission risks are properly identified and mitigated
  • Guarantee appropriate PPEs are provided to the field specialist
  • Approve field group overtime, timesheets, expenses
