About The Position

This position requires a proactive, hands-on professional who can work independently, manage priorities effectively, and respond to critical situations with confidence and professionalism. As a General Maintenance Electromechanical Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and uninterrupted operation of a highly specialized life sciences laboratory facility in Laval. You will be responsible for maintaining building systems, supporting tenants, coordinating contractors, and responding to operational issues in a fast-paced, technically demanding environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in facilities maintenance, building operations, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, building automation systems, and general building infrastructure.
  • Proven experience operating and troubleshooting Building Management Systems (BMS).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a customer-service-oriented approach.
  • Ability to participate in an on-call rotation and respond to emergency situations when required.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical certification in electromechanics, building systems, general maintenance, or a related discipline strongly preferred.
  • Experience managing security systems, card access control, and surveillance systems is considered an asset.
  • Experience working in laboratory, pharmaceutical, life sciences, healthcare, or similarly regulated environments is considered a strong asset.
  • Bilingualism (French and English) is preferred due to interactions with both Canadian and U.S.-based stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and Building Management Systems (BMS).
  • Ensure strict environmental and operational compliance required for laboratory and life sciences environments.
  • Provide 24/7 on-call support and respond promptly to emergency alarms, equipment failures, leaks, temperature excursions, and other critical building issues.
  • Administer and maintain building security systems, including card access and CCTV infrastructure.
  • Conduct regular facility inspections to identify maintenance needs, safety concerns, and building deficiencies before they become major issues.
  • Coordinate and oversee external contractors, vendors, and service providers to ensure work is completed according to specifications and facility standards.
  • Support ongoing construction, renovation, and improvement projects while ensuring uninterrupted building operations.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for tenants and building occupants, providing exceptional customer service and timely resolution of facility-related concerns.
  • Maintain preventive maintenance schedules and ensure all systems operate at optimal performance levels.
  • Support adjacent facilities when required and collaborate closely with management and operational partners.
