About The Position

Vernon Health is seeking a Respiratory Therapy Intern to join its patient care team while completing an accredited Respiratory Therapy program. The position provides hands-on clinical experience in a rural healthcare environment under the direct supervision of a licensed Respiratory Therapist. The intern assists with patient care, respiratory treatments, monitoring, documentation, and communication with the interdisciplinary healthcare team, performing duties consistent with their education, demonstrated competencies, and applicable Wisconsin regulations. The role offers experience in inpatient and emergency care settings and opportunities to develop clinical skills in a patient-centered environment.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled and in good standing in an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
• Completed one year of a two-year accredited Respiratory Therapy program, or three years of a four-year accredited program.
• American Heart Association CPR certification is required.
• Maintain active enrollment in an approved Respiratory Therapy program while employed as an RT Intern.
• Obtain the Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) within three months of program completion.
• Obtain Wisconsin Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) licensure within three months of program completion and maintain licensure in good standing as a condition of continued employment.
