About The Position

The Respiratory Therapist provides compassionate respiratory care to chronic, critically ill patients receiving extended healing and recovery at a critical illness recovery hospital. The role supports patients with critical and complex medical and surgical conditions and contributes to their care throughout the post-ICU recovery process.

This per-diem/PRN role is based in Sylvania, Ohio, and requires the ability to pick up shifts at both the Sylvania and Oregon locations as needed. The schedule is day shift, 6:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., with 12-hour shifts and a minimum of two shifts per week. Employees must work at least three weekend shifts per six-week scheduling cycle and one major and one minor holiday per year. Compensation is $50 per hour, with a shift differential for weekends.

The employer offers an extensive orientation program and notes that strong performance could lead to potential full-time opportunities. Part-time and per-diem employees may be eligible for 401(k) benefits after reaching 1,000 hours within their first anniversary or a subsequent calendar year.

Requirements

• Possess an active CRT or RRT credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) or state equivalent.
• Provide proof of graduation: college transcript or diploma, preferred; or high school transcript or diploma or GED.
• Possess Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the start date.
• Hold current state licensure.
• Have ACLS upon hire; agency respiratory therapists must have ACLS by their first shift.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients and recommend appropriate treatment plans.
• Provide respiratory care to patients with critical and complex medical and surgical conditions.
• Perform insertion and removal of endotracheal tubes.
• Promote continuous quality improvement.
• Teach and counsel patients and families.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
