About The Position

Select Specialty Hospital is a critical illness recovery hospital providing inpatient post-ICU services to chronically and critically ill patients who need extended healing and recovery. Respiratory Therapists provide compassionate respiratory care to patients with critical and complex medical and surgical conditions. This per diem/PRN role is located in Davenport, Iowa and is scheduled for 12-hour day shifts. The listed rate is $38 per hour, with shift differentials for night and weekend shifts, and a $7,500 sign-on bonus. The hospital provides an extensive orientation program and notes that demonstrated skills and dedication may lead to potential full-time opportunities. Part-time and per diem employees are eligible for 401(k) after reaching 1,000 hours within their first anniversary or subsequent calendar year, and may access the employee assistance program.

Requirements

• Possess an active CRT or RRT credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) or state equivalent.
• Provide proof of graduation: college transcript or diploma is preferred; high school transcript or diploma or GED is accepted.
• Possess Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the start date.
• Hold current state licensure.
• Have ACLS certification upon hire; agency respiratory therapists must have ACLS by their first shift.

Nice To Haves

• One year of related experience is preferred.
• College transcript or diploma is preferred as proof of graduation.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients and recommend appropriate treatment plans.
• Provide respiratory care to patients with critical and complex medical and surgical conditions.
• Perform insertion and removal of endotracheal tubes.
• Promote continuous quality improvement.
• Teach and counsel patients and families.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
