About The Position

Select Specialty Hospital is a critical illness recovery hospital that provides inpatient post-ICU services to chronically and critically ill patients who require extended healing and recovery. Respiratory Therapists play a central role in delivering compassionate treatment to patients with complex needs. This per diem/PRN role is based in Davenport, Iowa, and works 12-hour night shifts. The posted rate is $38 per hour, with shift differentials for night and weekend shifts, and a $7,500 sign-on bonus. The hospital offers an extensive orientation program and the possibility of future full-time opportunities. Part-time and per diem employees may qualify for 401(k) after reaching 1,000 hours within their first anniversary or a subsequent calendar year, and have access to the employee assistance program.

Requirements

• Hold an active CRT or RRT credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) or state equivalent.
• Provide proof of graduation: college transcript or diploma (preferred), or high school transcript or diploma, or GED.
• Possess Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the start date.
• Hold current state licensure.
• Have ACLS upon hire; agency respiratory therapists must have ACLS by their first shift.

Nice To Haves

• One year of related experience is preferred.
• College transcript or diploma is preferred as proof of graduation.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients and recommend appropriate treatment plans.
• Provide respiratory care to patients with critical and complex medical and surgical conditions.
• Perform insertion and removal of endotracheal tubes.
• Promote continuous quality improvement.
• Teach and counsel patients and families.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
