About The Position

Select Specialty Hospital is a critical illness recovery hospital providing inpatient post-ICU services to chronically and critically ill patients who require extended healing and recovery. Respiratory Therapists provide compassionate care to patients with critical and complex medical and surgical conditions, evaluate patients, recommend treatment plans, and support patients and families through teaching and counseling. The position is full-time, working nights from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. in Gainesville, Florida, with compensation of $31.96 to $43.00 per hour.

Requirements

• Possess an active CRT or RRT credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) or state equivalent.
• Provide proof of graduation: college transcript or diploma preferred, or high school transcript or diploma, or GED.
• Possess Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the start date.
• Possess current state licensure.
• Obtain ACLS within six months of hire. Agency respiratory therapists must have ACLS before their first shift, and PRN staff must have ACLS upon hire.

• One year of related experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients and recommend an appropriate treatment plan.
• Provide respiratory care to patients with critical and complex medical and surgical conditions.
• Perform insertion and removal of endotracheal tubes.
• Promote continuous quality improvement.
• Teach and counsel patients and families.
