About The Position

The Respiratory Therapist provides respiratory care to chronic, critically ill patients at a critical illness recovery hospital offering inpatient post-ICU services and extended healing and recovery. The role is based in Wilmington, Delaware, within ChristianaCare Wilmington, and is a PRN/per-diem night-shift position with 12-hour shifts. Compensation is $45 per hour, plus night and weekend shift differentials, with a $2,500 sign-on bonus. The hospital provides an extensive orientation program and notes that strong performance may lead to potential full-time opportunities. Part-time and per-diem employees may qualify for 401(k) benefits after reaching 1,000 hours within their first anniversary or a subsequent calendar year.

Requirements

• Possess an active CRT or RRT credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) or state equivalent.
• Provide proof of graduation: college transcript or diploma preferred, or high school transcript or diploma, or GED.
• Possess Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the start date.
• Hold current state licensure.
• Hold ACLS certification upon hire; agency respiratory therapists must have ACLS by their first shift.

Nice To Haves

• One year of related experience is preferred.
• A college transcript or diploma is preferred as proof of graduation.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients and recommend appropriate treatment plans.
• Provide respiratory care to patients with critical and complex medical and surgical conditions.
• Perform insertion and removal of endotracheal tubes.
• Promote continuous quality improvement.
• Teach and counsel patients and families.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
