About The Position

The Respiratory Therapist provides inpatient post-ICU respiratory care to chronic, critically ill patients who need extended healing and recovery. The role is based in Wilmington, Delaware, inside ChristianaCare Wilmington, and is per diem/PRN on a day-shift schedule with 12-hour shifts. Compensation is $45.00 per hour, with additional weekend shift differentials, and the position offers a $2,500 sign-on bonus.

The hospital provides an extensive orientation program. Per diem employees may demonstrate their skills and dedication for potential future full-time opportunities. Part-time and per diem employees may qualify for 401(k) participation after reaching 1,000 hours within their first anniversary or a subsequent calendar year.

Requirements

• Possess an active CRT or RRT credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) or a state equivalent.
• Provide proof of graduation: college transcript or diploma preferred, or high school transcript or diploma, or GED.
• Possess Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the start date.
• Hold current state licensure.
• Have ACLS upon hire; agency respiratory therapists must have ACLS by their first shift.

Nice To Haves

• One year of related experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients and recommend appropriate treatment plans.
• Provide respiratory care to patients with critical and complex medical and surgical conditions.
• Perform insertion and removal of endotracheal tubes.
• Promote continuous quality improvement.
• Teach and counsel patients and families.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
