About The Position
Select Specialty Hospital - Akron is a critical illness recovery hospital providing inpatient post-ICU services to chronically and critically ill patients requiring extended healing and recovery. Respiratory Therapists provide compassionate respiratory care to patients with critical and complex medical and surgical conditions. This per-diem/PRN position is located in Akron, Ohio, and is scheduled for 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Compensation is $44.00 per hour. The hospital offers an extensive orientation program and notes that strong performance may lead to potential full-time opportunities.
Requirements
- Possess an active CRT or RRT credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) or state equivalent.
- Possess Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the start date.
- Hold current state licensure.
- Hold ACLS certification upon hire; agency respiratory therapists must have ACLS by their first shift.

- One year of related experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate patients and recommend appropriate treatment plans.
- Provide respiratory care to patients with critical and complex medical and surgical conditions.
- Perform insertion and removal of endotracheal tubes.
- Promote continuous quality improvement.
- Teach and counsel patients and families.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
