About The Position

The Respiratory Therapist provides care at a critical illness recovery hospital delivering inpatient post-ICU services to chronically and critically ill patients requiring extended healing and recovery. The role involves compassionate respiratory treatment for patients with critical and complex medical and surgical conditions. This is a per diem/PRN day position in DeSoto, with compensation of $42.00 per hour. The hospital offers an extensive orientation program and the possibility of future full-time opportunities. Part-time and per-diem employees may qualify for 401(k) eligibility after reaching 1,000 hours within their first anniversary or subsequent calendar year.

Requirements

• Possess an active CRT or RRT credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) or state equivalent.
• Provide proof of graduation: college transcript or diploma preferred, or high school transcript or diploma, or GED.
• Possess Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the start date.
• Hold current state licensure.
• Have ACLS certification upon hire; agency respiratory therapists must have ACLS by their first shift.

• One year of related experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients and recommend an appropriate treatment plan.
• Provide respiratory care to patients with critical and complex medical and surgical conditions.
• Perform insertion and removal of endotracheal tubes.
• Promote continuous quality improvement.
• Teach and counsel patients and families.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
