About The Position

The Respiratory Therapist provides compassionate respiratory care to chronic, critically ill patients in a critical illness recovery hospital, supporting patients who need extended healing and recovery after intensive care. The role evaluates patients, recommends treatment plans, and delivers care for critical and complex medical and surgical conditions. The position is PRN/per diem on days in DeSoto and pays $42.00 per hour. The hospital provides an extensive orientation program and notes that demonstrated skills and dedication may lead to potential full-time opportunities. Part-time and per-diem employees may be eligible for 401(k) after reaching 1,000 hours within their first anniversary or a subsequent calendar year.

Requirements

• Possess an active CRT or RRT credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) or a state equivalent.
• Provide proof of graduation: college transcript or diploma preferred, or high school transcript or diploma or GED.
• Possess Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the start date.
• Hold current state licensure.
• Have ACLS upon hire; agency respiratory therapists must have ACLS before their first shift.

Nice To Haves

• One year of related experience is preferred.
• A college transcript or diploma is preferred as proof of graduation.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients and recommend an appropriate treatment plan.
• Provide respiratory care to patients with critical and complex medical and surgical conditions.
• Perform insertion and removal of endotracheal tubes.
• Promote continuous quality improvement.
• Teach and counsel patients and families.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
