About The Position

Select Specialty Hospital – Columbus South is seeking a per diem/PRN Respiratory Therapist to provide inpatient respiratory care to chronic, critically ill patients who require extended healing and recovery after intensive care. The role offers 12-hour shifts, with day and night shifts available, and pays $45 per hour. A $7,500 sign-on bonus is offered for PRN employees.

The hospital provides an extensive orientation program. Per diem employees may have the opportunity to pursue full-time roles. Benefits supporting financial, work/life, and emotional well-being are available; part-time and per diem employees may qualify for a 401(k) after reaching 1,000 hours within their first anniversary or subsequent calendar year, and have access to the employee assistance program.

Requirements

• Possess an active CRT or RRT credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) or state equivalent.
• Provide proof of graduation: college transcript/diploma preferred, or high school transcript/diploma or GED.
• Possess Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the start date.
• Have current state licensure.
• Have ACLS upon hire; agency Respiratory Therapists must have ACLS by their first shift.

Nice To Haves

• One year of related experience is preferred.
• College transcript or diploma is preferred as proof of graduation.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients and recommend an appropriate treatment plan.
• Provide respiratory care to patients with critical and complex medical and surgical conditions.
• Perform insertion and removal of endotracheal tubes.
• Promote continuous quality improvement.
• Teach and counsel patients and families.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
