About The Position

The Respiratory Therapist provides respiratory care to patients with critical and complex medical and surgical conditions at Select Specialty Hospital - Columbus South, a critical illness recovery hospital providing inpatient post-ICU services for chronic, critically ill patients who require extended healing and recovery. The role is per diem/PRN and is scheduled for two 12-hour night shifts per week, including at least three weekend shifts every six weeks. Compensation is $55 per hour, with a $7,500 sign-on bonus.

The hospital offers an extensive orientation program and the possibility of potential full-time opportunities based on demonstrated skills and dedication. Part-time and per-diem employees may qualify for 401(k) after reaching 1,000 hours within their first anniversary or a subsequent calendar year, and have access to the employee assistance program.

Requirements

• Possess an active RRT credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) or state equivalent.
• Provide proof of graduation: college transcript/diploma preferred, or high school transcript/diploma or GED.
• Possess Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the start date.
• Hold current state licensure.
• Have ACLS upon hire; agency respiratory therapists must have ACLS by their first shift.

Nice To Haves

• One year of related experience is preferred.
• College transcript or diploma is preferred as proof of graduation.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients and recommend an appropriate treatment plan.
• Provide respiratory care to patients with critical and complex medical and surgical conditions.
• Perform insertion and removal of endotracheal tubes.
• Promote continuous quality improvement.
• Teach and counsel patients and families.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
